Company of Heroes
What is it? Another World War 2 game, although this time it comes under the bracket Real Time Strategy. You take control of Able Company, beginning with the Normandy landings and controlling them as they fight their way across Europe. The designers are describing the battlefields you will fight on as the most dynamic ever seen in a game, big words from the guys who brought us games like Homeworld and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. The game will have you take control of troops, who will operate using what they claim to be the most advanced AI.
Why we're excited: The fact the game takes place in war torn Europe isn't really
that exciting, considering how many games are set with that backdrop. Factor in the fact that the environment is dynamic though, and the tables are turned. Suddenly the whole RTS will be viewed in a different light – can't get to the enemy because they are behind a vehicle or building – then just go right ahead and blow it up! Of course anything you can do they can do too, which means there are probably not that many places to hide your troops safely, just like real war. It should make for either very interesting, or very frustrating combat. Plus the game has flame throwers, and everyone loves a flamethrower. We can't wait to get our hands on it.
